The School of Life Sciences offers a Bachelor's Degree in Biotechnology in collaboration with California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (also known as Cal Poly Pomona) in the USA to produce graduates and researchers of ne plus ultra for the development of human capital in the various field of Biotechnology R&D.

An important feature of this major is the opportunity for an internship program in a biotechnology laboratory for practical experience in the field.

The facilities in TPM College includes advanced laboratories for research in Chemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology as well as Tissue Culture.

Our research facilities are the-best-of-its-kind, providing students with conducive circumambience for learning pleasure.

Our involvement in R&D in Biotechnology stretches from propagation of plants in vitro, to the discoveries of new entities and other medicinal properties in Mother Nature currently being carried out in our Biodiversity Research and Production Centre, located amidst the equatorial forests of the state of Pahang, Malaysia. Needless to say, the research facilities express our passion for research and development as well as wealth creation.

Why Biotechnology?

Biotechnology encompasses a broad range of areas that uses living organisms for the benefit of mankind. Among others, it includes medical research, tissue culture, agriculture, gene technology, aquaculture, bioinformatics, microbiology and environmental sciences. It is an interdisciplinary science that emphasizes on the application of micro-organisms, plant and animal cells in various technologies and industries such as pharmaceutical, food, chemical, bioproducts, textiles as well as environmental conservation.

It is clear that Biotechnology, though still in its infancy, is emerging as an important component of the new economy in Malaysia.
